Alumni Volunteers Needed

March 15, 2006

Doctors Weitzman, Rao and Madden are seeking SGU alumni volunteers to assist our clinical students in their journey toward residency. The Office of Career Guidance (OCG) in the Dean of Students Office, advises students regarding their career choice, the ERAS process and the best approach to the USMLE examinations among other things. We are seeking specialty specific alumni to speak with students who have an interest in the same specialty.

While the OCG can speak in generalities about specialties, students would like to speak with graduates who are practicing in the specific field of interest perhaps even in the region of the country where they would like to pursue training or practice post residency. We hope to be able to put students interested in anesthesia for example, in touch with alumni nearing completion of an anesthesia residency or practicing anesthesia. Graduates associated with a residency program would be particularly helpful in this and other endeavors. We would ask the student to e mail you and if you'd like, you could provide them with a phone number where you may be reached.

If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please e-mail John Madden at jmadden@sgu.edu, your curriculum vitae with a note describing any involvement with residency programs such as: you practice at a hospital with a residency in your specialty or you interview applicants for your hospitals residency program. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to call Dr. Madden at 1-800-474-8364.

Thanks for your continued support of SGUSOM!
